Samhain, appreciating the turing of the Wheel.

"This Samhain spend some time in nature and appreciate its wonderful colours at this time of year. Bring the beautiful golds and reds into your heart to keep you warm all winter" AstarteAlison

One of the reasons following the Wheel of the Year is so important to me is that I often struggle at this time of the year when the nights grow darker. The clocks go back this weekend so it will be dark at this time of day already. Following a Pagan path means I notice the changes in the seasons more and have learnt to embrace the beauty of each. Through researching into each Sabbat and looking at the meanings behind each turn of the wheel I discovered so much more to be grateful for and I welcome each new Sabbat with relish! Now I am concentrating on all the good that Samhain will bring as the veil thins and we are closer to our ancestors. I feel I am so much closer to our Mother Earth now and that is a wonderful feeling.

How about you, do you have a favourite season of the year or one that you struggle with?
Blessings, alison

  1. I feel very alive during the fall and more intune with nature. I too enjoy the changes the wheel brings. It keeps me more in sync and appreciative with the different 'spokes' of the wheel and the changes it brings. This time of year is my favorite. I feel more alive now than the rest of the year, I would say. Maybe it is all the colors. I have the most trouble during the winter or dark season. Maybe is it because it is darker than the rest of the year. I tend to get a little blue and have to work harder to stay focused and involved.

  2. My favorite season is autumn, and I wear my silver pentacle 24/7 for I feel by my wearing it that it protects me.

    1. I think everyone except me loves this season. The clocks have just gone back and it's dark now so early still I'm learning to love all that is wonderful about autumn! blessings, alison xxx

  4. I love the autumn and the shorter days and longer nights...but this is just who I am :) I couldn't live where the seasons didn't have such drastic changes. I enjoy each one but Autumn is my favorite, followed by Winter. Spring is my third favorite which leaves Summer as my least favorite...except when I was a child. I then loved Summer very much.

    Hugs,

  5. I think I either have the memory of a goldfish or that I am part dog - but I am really fortunate in that every season keeps surprising me and I find myself saying "Oh YES!! This is my favourite season!"
Mind you I did find myself struggling with March and April this year when winter seemed to be unwilling to make way for spring and a damp penetrating cold appeared to grip a waterlogged world!

  6. Fall is by far my favorite season. I like winter as well. Summer is the season I have the most trouble with. I don't do well with the heat and often get heat sickness. Oh, we got a little snow last night. It didn't stick, but I was able to watch it fall for a little bit. It's early! Have you had any?

    2. I live in Northern Idaho, USA, about 3 hours from Canada. It's chilly and windy here today but the house is warm from the dinner cooking in the oven. :) Is it usually cold in England this time of year or mild?
