Trees have from time immemorial been closely associated with magic. Scott Cunningham quote on nature.

"Trees have from time immemorial been closely associated with magic. These stout members of the vegetable kingdom may stand for as long as a thousand years, and tower far above our mortal heads. As such they are symbols and keepers of unlimited power, longevity, and timelessness.

An untouched forest, studded with trees of all ages, sizes and types, is more than a mysterious, magical place - it is one of the energy reservoirs of nature. Within its boundaries stand ancient and new sentinels, guardians of the universal force which has manifested on the the Earth." - Scott Cunningham

I love this quote on trees from the fabulous Scott Cunningham. There is indeed something really magickal about a tree. Standing tall for decades with it's roots deeply grounded in out Mother earth, Gaia, and it's branches reaching upwards towards the sky. Trees are deeply grounded yet have their uppermost branches reaching as though to communicate with their higher selves. We can learn from these magnificent trees that it is important to do both of these things, to stay grounded whilst being in touch with our higher or inner selves.

If we feel in the need of some spiritual uplifting a forest is a perfect place to escape to. A forest really is a magical and mysterious place to be in, full of life and constantly changing.  Spend some time being near the trees and absorbing their wonderful energy. If you don't have a forest that you can access a single tree in a park can still provide you with spiritual sustenance. Spend some time with the tree, perhaps take a book and lean against it while you have some 'me time' drawing strength from the tree. You may like to leave a little offering beneath the tree that you have chosen and be sure to thank the tree for allowing you to share in it's wisdom and magnificence.

Scott Cunningham practiced magic actively for over twenty years. He was the author of more than fifty books covering both fiction and non-fiction subject matter

Earth Power (Llewellyn's Practical Magick) is a wonderful book written by Scott Cunningham. This is the description given of the book: The ways of magic are revealed in nature . . . The secrets are written in meandering streams and drifting clouds, whispered by the roaring ocean and cooling breeze, echoed through caves and rocks and forests. When you draw a heart in the sand, call on the four winds for assistance, or ask the rain to wash away a bad habit, you are practicing earth magic. By working in harmony with nature, we can transform ourselves, our lives, and our world. This tried-and-true guide offers more than one hundred spells, rites, and simple rituals you can perform using the powerful energy of the earth.
