Business Planning in tune with the moon. Grow your business by following the cycles of the moon.

Business Planning in tune with the moon.

Have you ever thought about how you could make your business more efficient by following the moon’s phases? As our moon moves through her cycles of waxing and waning the changes in energy that we feel may be applied to all walks of life. We often read about how we should be starting new projects in the new moon and cleansing our lives of clutter during the waning moon. However applying these principles to the business world can be quite a challenge!

Running a business is often quite a tight operation. We often cannot decide that we would like to do filing one day just because the moon is right for us to do it on that day. However with a little forward thinking if we are able to manipulate schedules just a little you may be surprised at the results that you obtain. Most well run businesses have an annual and monthly business plan. We may then introduce within that monthly plan the times when it is best to surge ahead with growth, i.e. at the time of the waxing moon vs. the times when it is best to be getting on with the quieter parts of the business, i.e. at the time of the waning moon.

The new moon marks the beginning of the moon’s cycle. This should be the beginning of any new ideas for your business. This is the time to have strategy meetings, call together different departments to have brain storming ideas, you will find everyone is much more creative at this time of the new moon and fabulous ideas and visions for the future may be sown now. Any planning or visionary ideas should be undertaken at the new moon, including financial planning of any sort.

Ideas put forward during the new moon may then be expanded on during the phases of the waxing moon, particularly during the waxing crescent moon and the first quarter moon when the new moon energy is still recent.  Projects will gain momentum and gather speed until you see them reach fruition as we move from the waxing gibbous moon into the full moon. The waxing moon phase is all about action in the business world, it is about putting yourself out there, full throttle. Selling, putting together advertising campaigns, buying materials, recruiting new staff, holding conferences, finding new premises, writing new blog posts and articles, creating new programs, public relations, collaborations with other ventures, marketing strategies, all these activities should be done when the moon is waxing.

When the moon reaches her full moon phase she is at her peak. This phase only lasts three days but it is a very intense time that you should be prepared for. Things may be a bit fraught but also filled with a highly charged energy. Avoid making big or complicated decisions at this crucial time but instead use the charged energy to complete any tasks that need finishing.

The moon begins to wane after her big crescendo. This is the time to pull back a little and look to internal affairs of your business. Ensure that all your bookkeeping, tax and financial affairs are in order. If tax returns are due the waning moon is the time to complete them.  If any staff dismissals are to be made now is the best time to do it to avoid too much negativity. Maintenance of the building you are in should be looked at now and any jobs attended to. Send out invoices, file and organize, carry out market research, and clear your desk of clutter: you will feel much better for it and be much more productive during the new moon! Use the waning crescent moon phase to start to prepare for the new moon and the beginning of a new cycle, what will your intentions be for the coming month?

Of course this can only be a guideline. If you are in the business of selling cars you are going to be pushing hard to sell cars all month long. This just gives you a way of looking at your overall business, it is possible with a little forethought to change some of the ways in which you complete tasks. You will find that you achieve better results and experience less stress when you fine tune your daily routines and activities to the phases of the moon. Not only will your business run more efficiently and stress free but you will GROW your business by following this simple plan! Worth having a try then isn’t it?

Happy business planning, wishing you lots of success, Alison xxx

Basic overview on the waxing and waning phases of the moon

A basic overview on the phases of the moon.

I have just decided to write a quick post on the basic phases of the moon. The simplest way of looking at the moon is to split the phases into four. I apologise to those of you who already know this but I'm thinking there will be some people who come across this blog for whom this might be useful information. Do let me know if there is any particular moon information you would like me to write about, I'm trying to delve into particular aspects on the affect that our moon has on our lives as I find it very fascinating!

The four phases our moon goes through may be seen to us as follows:
  • ·      It starts as a new moon when it can barely be seen in our sky.
  • ·      It then begins to grow which is called waxing.
  • ·      The moon then reaches it’s fullest point when it is perfectly round, this is a full moon.
  • ·      After this the moon appears to us to grow smaller, this is call waning.

All these different stages: full moon, waxing moon (growing), waning moon (diminishing) and new moon (when you can barely it in the sky) can have an effect on our moods and our wellbeing. We can use the phases of the moon in our daily lives and learn to live in tune with the moon. The new moon is perfect for starting new projects and new ventures. As the moon is waxing this is a perfect time for any sort of growth and nurturing in our lives. At the full moon we may feel that we have an excess of energy thus it is important to channel that energy into something useful. As the moon begins to wane we may find we become more introspective and mediative; we can use this time to look within and prepare for the next moon cycle.

If we care to look deeper into the moon's cycle we can see that it may be more precisely split into nine phases. These are the new moon when the moon is barely visible to us, the spark of our inspiration. We then move into the waxing crescent moon, bring life to new ideas, followed by the waxing half moon; a period of growth and opportunity. The last phase before the full moon is the gibbous moon, a time of expression; with the full moon bringing a fulfilment of plans and heightened energy.

The moon then begins to wane, firstly with the disseminating moon as we start to look inwards, followed by the waning half moon bringing transformation as a result of that reflection. The very last sliver of the moon that we see in the sky is called the balsamic moon, this is a perfect moon for letting go of all that no longer serves us. Lastly we have the dark of the moon when we see no moon at all. This moon is for understanding on a very deep level, assimilating all the knowledge that we have gained from our inward thinking during the waning moon.

Having a knowledge of the moon's cycles gives us an insight into how our natural instincts work. We can learn a lot by observing these and going with nature's natural rythyms. If we observe ourselves for example slowing down at the waning moon period we should allow ourselves the space to do that. Our bodies know what is right for us and we need to listen to what our bodies are telling us is right for us. We need that time of reflection and it will help us when the time comes to speed up again. By keeping in tune with lunar cycles in this way we will have happier, more fulfilled and more efficient lives.

Starlight and moonbeam blessings to you,
Alison

Moon phases, New moon, full moon June 2013

Here are the moon phases for June for you. I will try and post these every month as I'm finding trying to live by the moon cycles very useful. We are in the third quarter of the waning moon at the moment, so I'm working on my de-cluttering. Still working on de-junking on my computer! It's no mean feat I can tell you. I freed up a lot of memory space last waning moon but there is still a long way to go! I really shouldn't take so many photographs! Or rather I need to let go of the ones I don't really need to keep. It's just as well digital photography wasn't around when my children were babies!!

We have a new moon this month on 10th June and a full moon on the 23rd June. A good friend of mine is moving house on the 23rd so I should think that will be a very energy filled day for her! Moon blessings to you moon lovers, Alison xx

Waning Cresent balsamic moon. Activities for restoration and re-cuperation

Waning Crescent Moon Balsamic Moon

The very last crescent of our moon that we see in the sky is called the waning crescent or Balsamic moon.  It is called this as balsamic means ‘a restorative state’, a time for healing and recuperation.  At this time our moon rises at dawn and is visible until she sets in the early afternoon.

The Waning crescent moon is sacred to the Crone Goddess or Wise woman aspect of the Triple Goddess and the inner wisdom that she represents.  This is a time when our thoughts may become clearer and we can see that the mediations carried out during the last quarter moon have been of use. It may be that we go through a period of transformation and change at this time, it is often a time of letting go of anything or anybody in our lives that we no longer need. This can sometimes be a time of unease, the Lunar cycle is ending, with it our cycle of progress and action is ending, however a new cycle has not yet begun. Therefore we must take time for ourselves and allow space for our thoughts to fall into place. If it is possible allow yourself as much calm as you can in your life.

I try myself to use this time for perhaps clearing out some old paperwork that has been long overdue or sorting through and cleaning a kitchen cupboard. I find that it is easier to do those sort of tasks during the time of the waning moon. I try and rest as much as possible, and not fret too much when I don't seem to have as much energy as I would like.

The waning balsamic moon is a good time for removing obstacles to happiness and success and for banishing negative thoughts and influences. Anything that has gone too far to be repaired for now, we must let go of. Perhaps it will be re-started in the next, or a future Lunar Cycle. Maybe it won't. However if the time has come to let go then that is what we must do and this is the ideal time to do it.  The Balsamic moon is also a particularly good point in the month in which to remove any pain and sickness from your life or lives of others.

Sometimes the balsamic moon is called the phase of the wishing moon. Therefore mentally and physically, try to sow good thoughts as to what you would like to accomplish in the next moon phase.  This is a good time to cleanse your unconscious mind of any negative influences that are cluttering your thought processes. Open your mind and in doing so you will open new doors ahead of you. This may the door to your heart, the door to a new project, a new holiday, whatever is needed in your life right now. This is a good time for preparing ourselves to be refreshed and ready for great momentum and new growth to come in the phase of the new moon. Meditation is always beneficial to us and we can continue with our restorative meditative practice throughout this this time of the waning balsamic moon. Through meditation we may get the answers to the question of what we need to let go of for our future happiness.

This is an extract regarding moon cycles from Glennie Kindred Sacred Celebrations:

"Interwoven in the Sun's cycles are the monthly cycles of the Moon whose influence affects all of life on Earth from the tides of the world's oceans, to the fluids within our bodies, our emotions, our unconscious, the fertility of women and their menstrual cycles. Throughout the book I use the word 'Celtic' as a term which recognises this as a cultural lineage in the lands of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, as well as all over Northern and Western Europe. Many of their traditions have been lost, destroyed by the Christian religion which sought to establish a new patriarchal God, and destroy the worship of Pagan Gods and Goddesses. Much can be rediscovered through folk customs, legends and folktales. Much has been kept alive through Pagan tradition, Druidic and Bardic lore and Pictish and Celtic art. The Christian calendar, on close examination, has overlaid its own festivals to fall at the same time as the Celtic ones, but with a subtle difference of perspective. This was necessary, as part of the conversion process, which changed the whole spiritual experience of the people of these lands. The Church taught us to view Spirit and Matter as separate realms, and to fear the inner worlds. This is so deeply entrenched, that even those without any religious belief are deeply influenced by it. We also feel ourselves to be separate from and superior to the rest of nature, and that men are superior to women. This fragmented state has brought great damage to the Earth's environment and to ourselves.
In order to change this perspective, there is a need to see ourselves and our relationship to the Earth, the Moon and the Sun with new eyes. We need to re-learn what we have forgotten and re-connect to the inner realms, which are a continuous presence around and within us. We have all been conditioned for so long to only use our logical intellectual minds, it is important that we begin to become aware of, and listen to our intuitive side. It is our conferred power and inherited right." Glennie Kindred
